Tech Stuff - GPS Loggers

For my first tech blog I'm going to discuss one of my favorite little gadgets.  Unfortunately, since I don't have manufacturers sending me their units to demo, I'll be talking more generally about them and what I've learned through my research to purchase one.

Christmas in Frankfurt

Frankfurt Christmas Market 2011
For most people, Christmas is a magic time of the year.  Strolling in the winter night, listening to Christmas songs, the lights decorating homes and trees, and maybe a nice warm drink in your hands.  Now, imagine all of that, but in Frankfurt Germany.  That is an experience you just shouldn't miss.

Trencin - Along the Rah River

Trencin Castle overlooking
the City Gate.
On the Western edge of Slovakia, not too far from the Czech border is the city of Trencin.  Located in the Vah Valley on the river that is the valley's namesake.  Although the city has it's modern areas, the old town portion has many items of great and almost ancient historic meaning.

Crossing Europe by Rail - Exhilarating Exhaustion

In the summer of 2009 I decided to fulfill a wish I had since I first discovered my love of travel.  It was my hope to one day travel across Europe by rail.  It took me a while to decide the direction of my journey and exactly where I wanted to start and end the trip.  The other part that took some time was deciding the many possible places to visit in the middle.  During the months of planning I determined that sometimes the best part of any trip is not just the travel itself, but finding where your travels should be.

Bratislava Castle Exploration

Bratislava Castle overlooking
the Danube River
Any visit to Bratislava would not be complete without a trip to the castle.  I've found this to be true no matter how many times I've been there.  Especially with all the renovations that have occurred in the past few years.

The Heart of Europe

I think anyone who travels holds a special place in their heart for the first destination they really traveled to.  I don't mean where you went with your parents as a kid, although that can be very special.  I mean the place that truly sparked a passion for travel and where you would go back again and again.

Bratislava - First Arrival

Most people's first destination in Slovakia is Bratislava.  It is the capital city and the major business and tourist city.  It is also the largest city with a population around 440,000 people.  Compared to most capitals that is really not much.  But it still is a large city with several distinct areas.  Some are more geared toward tourists than others, so you will find it to have a much smaller feel than most major cities.
